BESA Training Awards Achievements

BESA Training Awards Achievements

So it was to our delight that our very own young apprentice Lee McDonagh, was nominated for the “Young apprentice of the year 2017”

Campbell’s decided back in 2014 to take on an apprentice, and they enlisted the help and services of BESA. (The Building Engineering Services Association) formally HVCA.

The Building Engineering Services Association is the UK’s leading trade organisation for building engineering services contractors – representing the interests of firms active in the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, control and management of engineering systems and services in buildings.

Campbell’s have been a member of the Building Engineering Services Association for over 10 years and this means they can use the BESA badge. The badge is proof of the quality attained through BESA’s independent competence signals and professional standards to which we operate. The health and safety assessment we have to carry out as part of our membership helps safeguard our business, employees and customers. They also have a team of health and safety advisors to help businesses get to the level they need to be at in order to demonstrate their compliance.

Lee and his family were invited to attend the Scottish Parliament on the 1st of June 2017 along with Company Director Campbell Birnie. Lee had just completed his third year at Glasgow North College, where he attends weekly blocks at college, and the rest of his training is provided on site with our qualified engineers. Campbell’s were immensely proud of Lee, and delighted that as this was Campbell’s first apprentice that he had done so exceptionally well. Lee had been short listed by the college for this award and was one of only 3 apprentices in his category of “Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Apprentice of the year”

Despite the fact Lee didn’t receive the first place nomination he was however awarded with a “Highly Commended” framed certificate and a keepsake plaque was presented to Lee to recognise his excellent achievement. It was a proud night for both Lee and his family, and also our Director “Campbell Birnie”, who was delighted and very happy for Lee. Campbell quoted “Lee has been an excellent addition to our team, a very hard working, polite and conscientious young man”.

Campbell’s are committed to the training of new employees and are working in hand with BESA to provide new opportunities for new apprentices. As we speak, Campbell’s has since taken on another apprentice and we wish him well in his training and employment.

The future of the industry is the new up and coming apprentices. Campbell’s are committed to the employment and future investment of young apprentices. And will provide a solid basis on training on and off site in order to assist their progression.

Once again congratulations to Lee on a fantastic achievement.
